What To Expect

Merito is first and foremost concerned with the comfort and safety of our patients. Our addiction treatment center makes every effort to alleviate concerns and stress about living in a residential rehab facility. When you all our intake specialists you can arrange to get an in-depth tour of the facility, and ask any questions you might have about the process, treatment, and even financing. The focus we’ve made on creating a cozy “home away from home” lets a lot of our patients easily get into the swing of things.

The admission process will involve some paperwork. We respect confidentiality in all cases, so as part of the process, you can tell us who can know you’re here and what they can be told.

What to Expect

Detox

Detoxing from drugs or alcohol is always unpleasant, and sometimes dangerous; in fact, the difficult of withdrawal is a major reason why it’s so hard to quit using. Detox at Merito detox facilities is medically supervised and empathetic to ensure the safest process available. Our compassionate staff will provide round-the-clock medical monitoring during your detox.

Residential Treatment

Each of our inpatient homes is designed to provide more cozy feeling than a typical hospital-like setting. Our locations, in sunny Southern California, feature modern amenities and gym facilities as well as nutritional specialists to exemplify a comfortable, homelike environment which is conducive to recovery.

A segment of the routine for residential treatment usually includes structured chores such as sweeping and doing dishes. This is common in residential treatment. These tasks promote and encourage a sense of personal and communal responsibility and teamwork. It’s a way for you to change your routine from what it was while in the grips of addiction.

Therapeutic Programs

Merito uses differing types of traditional and alternative treatment methods and therapeutic techniques, including a Christian track program for those who are interested. You may see that other facilities may offer the some of the same kinds of options. However, staying current with existing treatment options and implementing innovative techniques is very essential to the Merito way, so we offer the best variety of methods to our patients.

Merito rehab for men’s experienced counselors will develop an individual treatment plan designed to enhance your rehab experience and leverage your unique style personal growth and structured rehabilitation.

Individual Counseling

One-on-one Dual Diagnosis (mental/emotional health issues in combination with addiction) sessions will be conducted with a licensed therapist. Sometimes these sessions are needed more frequently and that is determined on an individual basis. Between therapy sessions, patients are urged to think about their progress and growth.

Group Counseling

Led by by a certified and accredited drug/alcohol addiction specialist, group counseling sessions call the men in our care together to go over healing and recovery topics and participate in focused group activities. Whether discussing traumas, guilt or family issues, or even something as commonplace as depression, group counseling is a crucial tool. Even in very positive individuals, it is often easier to see negative attitudes or behaviors in others than it is to see in ourselves. Our honest, spiritual, and progressive input creates a dynamic that promotes healing and self-esteem. Merito alumni and their families often keep in contact with the friends they’ve made in group therapy long after the inpatient treatment has been completed.

Educational Groups

Educational Groups are focused on the scientific and biological effects of alcohol and drugs on the body and mind. Women are encouraged to participate in open discussion with the assurance that qualified staff members will keep things in order and guide the group to mutual healing. Addiction is a deadly disease. Our minds and bodies are adversely affected. The more we know about the vicious disease of addiction, the better equipped we are to make better choices in life.

What To Expect

Physical Fitness

Alcohol and drugs are as hard on the body as the mind and the spirit, especially after years of use. Weekly visits to the gym, nature hikes, and educational groups stress the importance of taking care of your health. We also provide an onsite chef and nutritionist who will plan your diet after discussion with you, based on your needs and food restrictions (if any). Better sleeping habits are also promoted to get you back on a proper cycle.

Spirituality Groups

These groups are similar in structure to normal group therapy sessions. Spirituality groups focus on a connection with your higher power — the strength and energy that is greater than you alone. Merito takes the twelve step program very seriously – and acceptance of a Higher Power is essential to this. Together we find God and strengthen ourselves in faith. This connection to a higher power allows us to reach out for help, find gratitude in all things and have faith that we can overcome our circumstances – no matter what they might be.

Successful Aftercare Programs

Merito cares about the long-term health and sobriety of our clients. After your detox and residential treatment, we provide ways to keep on the right path. Sometimes we need additional support to keep on the straight and narrow and keep living our newfound healthy lives. Merito continuing care programs ensure you’ll have the tools, you’ll have the support, and you’ll have the network to succeed.

Aftercare programs provide and environment for practicing the tools you learn in residential care. It is safe, supportive, convenient and the next right step. Just know that you don’t have to start over somewhere new. Our love, support, understanding and experience with YOU can continue through each phase of your recovery.

It has been proven that participating in an aftercare program significantly improves the quality of your recovery and helps you avoid triggers for relapses.

Sober Living

Sober living, or transitional living, is the most intensive and successful plan for recovery after inpatient treatment is complete. The primary difference between IOP (intensive outpatient) and Sober Living, is that you will live in a structured sober living home with a live-in staff member. This is a great option for men who aren’t ready to jump back into their normal routine yet but need some independence. Sober living is a common next step for people leaving residential treatment. It takes time and practice, support and experience to overcome the triggers and temptations of our old lives and use our newly-learned skills. Merito sober living homes are comfortable; these are safe places to practice new coping skills, develop healthy friendships and strengthen an effective support network. A live-in house manager will be around at all times to help support our clients.

Intensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) are structured group counseling programs focused on identifying triggers and cravings, relapse prevention, and providing practical suggestions for living life without alcohol or drugs. You don’t have to complete a residential program to enter IOP, however it is a very popular and flexible option for both recent alumni and those who want treatment while still working or going to school.
