Bipolar Disorder Treatment Center

There are approximately 2. 3 million people in the United States who are diagnosed as having bipolar disorder. Many of these people never bother to get any form of treatment for their mental condition simply because the disease is very difficult to diagnose. But there are effective ways to treat this illness and Merito is a men’s rehab center that uses the most effective methods.

Difficult To Treat

Bipolar treatment programs are there to help – however, the recovery process can still be difficult. Part of the problem lies in the fact that many patients discontinue their treatment because they are either too distressing or they have too many adverse side effects. It’s important to remember that if you leave bipolar disorder untreated, you are in for major health risks.

“Bipolar robs you of that which is you. It can take from you the very core of your being and replace it with something that is completely opposite of who and what you truly are. Because my bipolar went untreated for so long, I spent many years looking in the mirror and seeing a person I did not recognize or understand.”
– Alyssa Reyans

Types of Bipolar Disorder

There are two common classifications of this mental disorder. They are:

  • Bipolar I Disorder – This is the most common BP and is known before as manic depressive disorder.  It is characterized by mood swings ranging from extremely high to extremely low depressions.
  • Bipolar II Disorder – This is a more serious type of depression, which is also sometimes called hypomania.  Primary care doctors cannot easily spot this condition since it is very difficult to diagnose.

The Dangers of Untreated Bipolar Disorder

If BP is left untreated, the symptoms will grow worse. Here are some of the consequences if you forego treatment of this mental illness:

  • Personal, financial and social problems – Not treating your BP will cause you to develop negative behaviors which in turn will affect your relationships with your family, and friends.  Naturally, your quality of work at the office will also be negatively affected if you are harboring this mental illness.
  • It could lead to substance abuse – To mitigate the symptoms of BP, you may be induced to abuse alcohol and even ingest prohibited drugs.  If this happens you now have a co-occurring problem which will make your treatment doubly difficult.
  • It could lead you to commit suicide – Statistics revealed that approximately thirty percent of people diagnosed with BP but did not treat their condition ended up killing themselves.

But there is no need for you to suffer these horrible consequences. There is hope, but you need to recognize your problem and implement the right treatment plan.

“Though I am often in the depths of misery, there is still calmness, pure harmony and music inside me.”
– Vincent Van Gogh
