PHP Treatment Center

Drug and alcohol addiction are so tenacious, more than one kind of treatment is usually required to beat them. Your initial detox and rehab treatment may give you a head start, but if you will not follow it up with a PHP treatment, your chances of relapse are very high. And this is where you will need the help of Merito, a PHP treatment center for men that specializes in substance addiction treatment.

“One of the things that therapists do if you are suicidal, like a trick, is ask you about the future. They want to know what your plans are. Do you want to be the president? Do you want to be a rock star? They want to know if you want to live later even if you want to die now.”
– Albert Borris

Basic Background of PHP

PHP is an acronym for Partial Hospitalization Program. It is a form of addiction treatment that is comprehensive, intensive, and short-term. This type of program is less intensive but more flexible than the more commonly used inpatient hospitalization programs. The big difference is that PHP is more focused on the conventional outpatient care.

If you are experiencing severe and hard to manage psychiatric symptoms which do not require round-the-clock patient care, our PHP treatment center at Merito is your best option.

You will be allowed to live at home, but you need to go to the center for your treatment which is usually conducted seven days a week. The objective of PHP treatment is to minimize your inpatient hospitalization treatments and yet you are still provided with a comprehensive treatment for your addiction or other co-occurring disorders.

Elements of the Program

The treatment program we use at Merito consists of three parts. They are:

  • Individual Therapy – You will be guided by a therapist who is either a psychologist or a psychiatrist in private sessions where you will be able to explore the underlying triggers and causes of your drug or alcohol addiction. Being private sessions, you and your therapist will be able to develop customized treatment and aftercare programs that are specific to your specific conditions.
  • Group Therapy – As the word implies, you will be participating in therapy sessions attended by a group of people.  The group sessions will still be led by a therapist or therapists, and you will be joined by other individuals in various stages of addiction recovery. As a participant, you will be encouraged to share your experiences, sentiments and feelings with the group.  Other members of the group are also encouraged to do the same. This is your opportune time to learn from other people’s experiences, interact with them socially, interpret their reactions, and be encouraged by the successes they have already achieved in their treatment programs.
  • Family Therapy – This component of PHP treatment involves your immediate family members.  It is still considered a private session since there are no other persons involved, but just your close relatives. It is believed that your family is a critical part of your recovery since it is from them that you can get your most important emotional and physical support.  They can also provide the most important feedback while you are undergoing drug rehab.

“In my early professional years, I was asking the question: How can I treat, or cure, or change this person? Now I would phrase the question in this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for his own personal growth?”
– Carl R. Rogers
